Satirical views of the 19th century

On Thursday June 26,Vendôme will be the venue for Act I of the dispersal of a major collection of newspapers and original drawings relating to caricature and the satirical press (Rouillac OVV). On display will be a collection of seven volumes of the weekly political and satirical magazine L'Éclipse, in a deluxe edition dating from 1868 to 1876. Each issue consists of four pages, with a full-color front page, most often by André Gill, but also by Draner, Job, Bocquin, Pépin, Durandeau, Ladreyt, Moloch, Pilotell, Mob... Edited by François Polo, L'Éclipse replaced La Lune, banned by the censors in December 1867, and itself suffered numerous publication bans. Expect to pay €1,500/2 ,500 for this set.
