#SUPPORTANARTIST REDISTRIBUTES 212.000 € TO ARTISTS IN PRECARIOUS SITUATION

Wednesday, May 6th 2020

Press release

Initiated by the Rouillac auction house and Artension magazine, with the Puls'art salon, the CCC OD art centre and many other private partners, the #SoutiensUnArtiste electronic auction raised nearly €212,000 in bids on Wednesday 6 May 2020 on the rouillac.com website.

The sum will be paid 100% to the artists, without any management fees, including €86,000 through individual grants of €1,000, managed rigorously and voluntarily by the Taylor Foundation.

More than half of the 500 works presented at the auction found takers, stimulated by the names of famous artists, who offered - symbolically - their fame, and the fruit of the sale of their works, to artists in precarious situations, thanks to a fund managed by the Taylor Foundation. The Robert Combas painting "Lost in the Forest..." reached the sum of 24,000 euros. Less famous artists have also been able to sell personally at sometimes high prices, such as the young painter from Vendôme, Romain Coudret, whose canvas sold for 1,410 euros, or the Alsatian artist Mina Mond, whose drawing reached 1,700 euros.

Keep buying works!

The Taylor Foundation will publish within 24 hours, on its website taylor.fr, the formalities to be completed to apply for a grant #SoutiensUnArtiste. Applications will be submitted from 11 to 29 May 2020. To prolong the spirit of this #SupportAnArtist sale, continue to buy artworks or make a donation to the Taylor Foundation!

Nothing would have been possible without donations from gallery owners, collectors and artists. Our thanks go in particular to Mrs. Sarah Moon, Mr. Robert Combas and Mr. Ernest Pignon-Ernest.

There is no such thing as an "exhibition intermittent" status.

This unique sale is exceptional, it is not meant to be repeated. Its scale unfortunately betrays the precarious situation of a large number of plastic surgeons, increased by the consequences of confinement.

1,400 works of art were on offer when the sale was announced. The solidarity of its actors, all of whom acted voluntarily, as well as the public (1,350 new bidders registered in a few days on the internet to bid), illustrates how much creation and creators are dear to the hearts of the French people.

Thanks to this sale, many of us have understood that the "intermittent status of the exhibition" does not exist.

Press and social network relays

Finally, our thanks go to the press, a powerful and supportive relay, notably via: Le Monde, France 5, Connaissance des Arts, France Inter, Artpress, France 3, La Nouvelle République, France Bleue, AFP, La Gazette Drouot, TV Tours, The Art Newspaper, etc... Not forgetting the more discreet but equally effective relays, thanks to the artists, of social networks. We invite those who wish to do so to post a favourable recommendation on the internet accounts of the supporters of this initiative.

The detailed results of the #SoutiensUnArtiste sale are published on the rouillac.com website. Each buyer or seller is now contacted directly by Rouillac. The faster the buyers pay... the faster the artists will be supported!

In July, find in the n°161-162 of Artension, on newsstands, the report of this unique sale.
