La Gazette Drouot, Caroline Legrand
Billed at €2 ,500/3 ,000 on Saturday, March 14 at Vendôme (Rouillac OVV), this Restauration-period clock (h. 35 cm) - from the de Valicourt collection - is in gilt bronze with an enamelled dial signed "Raingo à Mons", presumably for Louis-Charles Raingo (1779-1854), uncle of the "Raingo Frères". Henri IV is depicted next to the map of the Battle of Ivry and his hat. The bas-relief depicts a scene from Charles Collé's play Le Roi et le Meunier, in which the Duc de Sully asks the king for forgiveness. At the battle of Ivry on March 14, 1590, during the Wars of Religion, Henri IV wore a large bouquet of white feathers on his helmet, as legend has it that he proclaimed to his troops: "Rally to my white plume, you will find it on the path to honor and victory".
